SkillsUSA heads to Atlanta, Ga., in June 2024, for the annual National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC), a showcase of career and technical education students. More than 19,000 people — including students, teachers, and business partners — are expected to participate in the weeklong event.

The offcial regulations for the national events are published in the SkillsUSA Championships Technical Standards free to download to anyone with a professional membership. National contest descriptions are on the national web page, www.skillsusa.org search for contest updates.

2023 National Leadership and Skills Conference Information​

The National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC) event is open to Texas State Leadership and Skills Conference first-place winners of National level contests, who are paid members that were registered by Feb 1. All District and State Conference fees must be paid before NLSC registration is allowed.

State Registration fees include, state trading pins, state t-shirt, refreshments at State meeting on Monday evening, spirit items for opening session.

Parking at hotel is $35.00 per night for self-parking, Valet parking is $45.00 per night both + 16.5% tax.

There is an NLSC shuttle bus that runs from our hotel to the GWCC/State Farm. First priority seating to wristbands, but if there are open seats anyone with Texas Badge can ride. Sheraton Hotel is ROUTE 1 (only hotel on this route) The full shuttle schedule is on the app. The buses will run roughly every 20 minutes from 7a-10p on Tues and Fri and 7a-6pm on Wed and Thurs.

Pre Conference Sessions: $165/pp: Activate: Chapter Leaders, Leverage: State Officers, Engage: Advisors, June 17-19th

Professional Development Testing via the SkillsUSA Online Testing Platform. Registered competitors will receive an email to the email address supplied in NLSC conference registration with their assigned username, password, and login URL. All Professional Development Tests must be completed by 5 p.m. ET on Friday, June 9 to be scored. Action Skills, Building Maintenance, Community Action Project, Employment Application Process, and all middle school competitors are not required to complete the Professional Development test and will thus not be enrolled in a test.

Additional Online Testing: Competitors from select contests will also have a technical assessment for their contest loaded into their online testing account. Quiz Bowl, TeamWorks and Welding will have an online pre-conference assessment test and will receive test at the same time as the PD Test. Competitors in the Baking and Pastry Arts and Culinary Arts will complete an online third-party assessment(s) and will receive instructions via email.

  • the Advisor Summit registration option is exclusive to advisors who are not chaperoning students to competition (and want to come just for Professional Development and the NLSC experience)  

You must register in advance if you want to participate in Community Service event on Friday morning. Don’t forgot to check that box in registration.

The Wi-Fi Internet access in GWCC is predominately available only on the 5GHz band. Please ensure the device you are bringing for your competition can connect to a 5GHz band. It is recommended that competitors test their device prior to arriving for NLSC, and if applicable, bring an appropriate 5GHz adaptor.

As of June 7, the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel, where the delegation stays at Nationals, will have a brand change. The new hotel name will be Courtland Grand Hotel, Trademark by Wyndham https://courtlandgrandhotel.com/

Can be any joined member but must register as voting delegate before May 16th. Duties include:
• Enact bylaws, rules and regulations necessary for carrying out the affairs and activities of the organization.
• Elect officers of the organization.
• Act upon items of business as requested by the National Executive Council and Board of Directors.

The High School Voting of National Officer Candidates will open immediately at the close of the Business Meeting for 90 minutes.

Transportation in Atlanta:

Marta train stations: 3 block walk to the Sheraton, 1 block to GWCC. Use train for airport, daily it is not a practical option.

Pre-Order TX Cowboy hats and bags of pins HERE  If you would like to pre-order a TX Cowboy hat and TX state bag(s) of pins please complete this form prior to April 19th at 5pm. Payment must be received by Mon May 8th.

You will need to select the Cowboy hat size (S, M, L , XL) we cannot guarantee we will have a different size to exchange on site. There is an elastic band inside the hat brim. Hats may not be traded until after awards on Fri pm.

When the order is received from this form an invoice will be sent to the email provided. Pre Order Invoices can be paid by check or credit card. If you pay with CC there is a 3% fee. You cannot pay for a pre-order on site. Payment must be received by May 8th for the order to be placed.

You will need to present a paid copy of the invoice to pick up your order at registration on Mon June 19th between 4-7pm at the Sheraton in Atlanta.

Bags of pins are 9 pins for $20. Hats are $20 ea. On site sales of extra hats and pins will be cash only, same prices. Locations of time of sales will be posted in Signal app.

The 2023 NLSC Championships Support Registration site is now open! Please share this link with your technical committee members, national education team, judges, and competition supporters. This registration system will generate your Championships Support conference badge, which should be picked up at the Volunteer Registration Booth in the lobby of Building B of the Georgia World Congress Center on the first day of your volunteer assignment. Our Volunteer Registration Booth hours are 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. EDT, beginning Sunday, June 18 through Thursday, June 22.
