SkillsUSA heads to Atlanta, Ga., June 20-24, 2022, for the annual National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC), a showcase of career and technical education students. More than 19,000 people — including students, teachers, and business partners — are expected to participate in the weeklong event.

The official regulations for the national events are published in the SkillsUSA Championships Technical Standards free to download to anyone with a professional membership. National contest descriptions are on the national web page, search for contest updates.

2022 National Leadership and Skills Conference Information​

The National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC) event details will be posted as the conference date approaches. This event is open to Texas State Leadership and Skills Conference first-place winners of National level contests, who are paid members that were registered by Feb 1. All District and State Conference fees must be paid before NLSC registration is allowed.

Registration closes April 24, 2022.  Payment is due May 8, 2022-check in hand not just a PO.

Study Guide for the PDP Test    Competitors will receive information on how to test on May 14th. All Professional Development Tests must be completed by 5 p.m. ET on Tuesday, June 21. The following competitions will have their written assessment online in addition to the PDP. All other competitions will administer their testing onsite during the competition.

Atlanta Street Car

Sessions will be live streamed from State Farm Arena. Only registered badge holders will be allowed to attend in person. Live stream access can be purchased for $35 per device, per session (opening, recognition and awards are seperarate charges) after June 1st. Details coming soon. Don’t forget that Atlanta is one hour ahead of Texas when you are reading the schedule.

A schedule with equipment needs, orientations, etc will be available from the National office around May 16th.

The NLSC housing policy states “all state-registered participants must be housed in the same hotel assigned by SkillsUSA unless approved otherwise by SkillsUSA National Office Conference Management Team.” Not staying at the assigned state hotel can jeopardize conference state-registration status and ability to participate in the event. Rooming confirmations are being sent out the week of May 4th.

Dining options inside the GWCC and the Arena are credit card only. There are 2 dining options that do take cash: Just steps away from the GWCC and attached to the State Farm Arena is the CNN Center Food Court with many fast casual food options including Arby’s, BurgerFi, Dunkin Donuts, Fresh to Order, Moe’s Southwest Grill and more.  The vendors inside the CNN Center will accept cash as well as Visa and Apple Pay.  Food trucks will also accept the same.   See:

Bag Policy

State Farm Arena: State Farm Arena is required to prohibit all bags, including briefcases, purses, luggage, and diaper bags, larger than 14″ x 14″ x 6″ from being brought into the arena. Backpacks and hard-sided bags of any kind are also prohibited. Single-compartment drawstring bags and fashion backpacks or purses that are smaller than 14″ x 14″ x 6″ are permitted. Doors will open 1 hour prior to the posted start time of each event. Each participant will enter through a metal detector.

GWCC: the venue does not have a specific bag policy.

Atlanta Braves Game Tickets

$15/ea. Wed against the Giants 7:20pm. Must be ordered by May 30th and Paid by June 3rd. Shuttle will be provided from Sheraton to the ballpark.

If a registrant loses their name badge, a replacement can be purchased in Registration Hall at GWCC for $10. Must have a badge to enter any venue or ride shuttle. Children (10 and under) can walk the exhibit floor at no fee, but must have badge.  If you need a child’s pass go to the booth at registration hall at GWCC to register first – before June 23rd.  The free children’s pass does not include a seat in any of the evening sessions at State Farm Arena.  Children’s evening session tickets can be purchased for $75 at the same booth.

Schools are responsible for paying for all registrants that cancel after the registration deadline. Drops made after the deadline are not eligible for a refund/credit. May 13th is the last day for any updates.
