SkillsUSA Texas serves students enrolled in career and technical education training programs in our middle schools, high schools and colleges. The following are guiding documents for our organization.

Perkins V is federal legislation requiring states that receive federal CTE funds to align CTE programs of study to high-wage, in-demand, and high-skill occupations. The Division of College, Career, and Military Preparation has engaged members of the workforce, secondary education, and higher education to advise on the development and recent refresh of programs of study, which include coherent course sequences, industry-based certifications, and work-based learning opportunities to ensure students are prepared for high-wage, in-demand, and high-skill careers in Texas.

Texas’ 14 programs of study are based on those developed by the US Department of Education.  With the endorsement of the Texas Education Agency, and as a nationally recognized CTSO SkillsUSA Texas serves the programs of study. TEA Programs of Study
There are currently 16 Career Clusters found in the National Career Clusters Framework, which serves as an organizing tool for career and technical education programs nationwide.
